The Pope

The Pope is visiting the US this week. What do you know about the Pope and what would you like to learn about him? (not just this Pope -- but the office over time)

Your post should contain 3-4 sentences of thought-provoking prose.

To be honest, I really dont know anything about the Pope. The only thing I know is that he is a Chrisitan guy with a big hat and a septor and a robe who is a pope.
And because of the title of the reading, I know that the Pope is visiting somewhere.

Some questions I have are
1. Who is he? What religion does he preach?
2. Did he work his way up to becomeing a pope?
3. Like Muhammad or Constantine, did the Pope have any revelations or calls from God?
4.What is the purpose of the special clothes he wears?
5. Can the Pope be a woman? Has the Pope ever been a woman?

I do not know much about the Pope. I know that he is visiting the US and that he is obviously Christian. But other than that, I know nothing else.
A couple of question I have are: Where is the pope visiting (what states)? Do people consider him like a prophet? Has he had revelations like Muhammad, and many prophets before him ? How does the Pope get "elected"? Who will be Pope after him ?

I really don't know very much about the Pope either. I'm pretty sure that he spends most of his time in Rome, maybe in or near the Vatican? I've usually seen the Pope as a balding/white-haired man who wears white robes. One question I have is how does the Pope become a pope? What is the election process or requirements to become pope? Also, what is his "job"? In other words, what does the Pope do on a regular basis. One last question: what is the Pope's involvement in politics, or is he mostly a religious man?

All i know about the pope is that he is the head of the Roman Catholic church and lives in Vatican city. Well i also know he is coming to DC and New York City sometime soon.

I would like to know why he is so important?

I also would like to know why the pope is from Europe and not South America considering there are more Roman Catholics in South America the Europe.

I don't know very much about the Pope. All I know is that he is coming to visit New York some time soon. He is giving a sermon at Yankee stadium because it is only place big enough. He is the second Pope to visit the United States. The first one visited a total of 5 times, 7 if you include the two times he touched down to refuel in Alaska. He also gets to wear this really cool hat and hold a septor, which reminds me of Sailor Moon. Yah, that's all I know.

I have many questions about the pope:
What is his name?
How does one become a Pope?
How long do you stay Pope?
What are the qualifications?
What is this Pope known for?
Do you have to be from a certain place to become Pope?

I know that the pope is the head of the Christian church. He is Pope Benedict XVI. He is pretty new and came after John Paul II died. I want to know how long a time there is in between each pope. Do they have one ready when the pope dies, or do they go through the process after the death of the current pope. Does the pope have to go through special training or can any priest become a pope?

I know that Pope Benedict is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. I remember him born in Germany somewhere. He was 78 when elected as Pope and was the oldest Pope to be elected since Pope Clement. He took over after John Paul II's death. He has reigned since April 19, 2005. I know to be Pope many languages have to be known and I believe he speaks fluent English, Italian, French, Latin, Spanish, and Dutch. In latin Benedict means Blessed. Which I have always thought was interesting as to why he picked that name.

1) Why at this point in his life is he doing his first visit to America?
2) What were his backups to his quote about talking of the Muslims?

I don't know much about the Pope, either. I know his name is Pope Benedict, and I know he's the leader of Christians, though I don't know what specific division. I know he's visiting the US for the first time, and he has a Popemobile because the last Pope almost got assassinated.

1. How is the Pope chosen/elected/etc.?
2. What does he DO, exactly, other than travel and give sermons? Or is that it?
3. What does the Popemobile look like?

What I know about the Pope is that he is the head of the Catholic Church, which is part of the Christian Church. He lives in Vatican city in the city of Rome, Italy (but isn't part of Italy). The pope, one elected, is pope for life, and then when he dies, a new pope is elected by some kind of board. Also, the most famous pope perhaps was John Paul II, because he traveled a lot, allowing the people to see him and listen to him. The Pope's official residence is St. Peter's Basilica, (I think).

That's all I know about the pope...

What I'd like to learn is-

1)Does the pope have good relations with Islam and Judaism?

2)Why is he visiting the US? Is their a purpose?

3)What does he actually do? (Day to Day)

I know that the Pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church, which is something like 6.5 million people. I know that the current pope is Pope Benedict something... and, I know that he was just selected to be pope recently (as in the past ten years or so). I also know that he is coming to America for a while, and for lots of people that is a pretty big deal.

I have a few questions about the pope, though:

1. How does one become the pope? Is it like a job, where you become like a priest and rise up the ranks, or do they pre-select certain people and train them?

2. Are the views of the pope his own, or do they reflect the Catholic Church as a whole, or only partially? It seems to me as though not all Catholics could agree with the pope at once.

3. How long has the pope been around, as in how long have their been popes? Does it trace back to the beginnings of the Roman Catholic Church, or did it start later?

I don't know much about the Pope, but i do know that the pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church.
Questions
1)What is the usual daily routine for the Pope?
2)Why do Popes rarely visit the US?

i know that the pope is the head of the catholic church, i know he is based in Vatican city. i think but am not sure that he is the only one allowed in a room where a flame is said to have been burning for hundreds if not thousands of years. i know that the position of pope has been argued and fought over in the past, which is why the church of england was formed.

i would like to know about the election/selection process for the pope.

i would also like to know where he lives normally, and what he does daily while not at the church.

how does he travel? does he have his own kind of secret service?

who pays for his expenses?

1) All I know about the Pope is that he is the head of the Catholic church.

2) I would like to know:
- How are they securing him/ what methods of security are used?
- What are the requirements for becoming the Pope?

Just as almost everyone else has said, I don't know a whole lot about the Pope. I do know that he comes from Rome, Italy and is the Roman Catholic Pope. A few things I'm wondering are, how old is the pope? How many popes have their been in the past?

Honestly I don't really know anything about the pope except that he is the main religious figure in Christianity and more specifically the religious figure in the Catholic Church.

1. How did he become the Pope, is it based on your family.
2. Are there any restrictions on who can be the Pope?
3. Does he get to pick who the next Pope will be?
4. What are his duties as the Pope?
