Islam Paragraph
Please post a one paragraph description of what you would like to learn about in Islam. You can do some initial research, but keep the research brief. I'm more interested in you explaining what question you want to explore and why it's interesting to you. Your paragraph should be about four sentences long, and should begin with "I am interested in learning more about ..."

I am interested in learning more about Pilgrimages, in particular the pilgrimage to Mecca. The Pilgrimage to Mecca is very important and must be carried out at least once during your lifetime. Hajj is one of the 5 pillars, so obviously it is very important to the religion. I want to explore this topic more, so I can understand why this Pilgrimage must be made, why it is so important, and why it is the largest in the world.
I am interested in learning about the different tribes that were around when they made the trip to Medina and the trip back to Mecca. Why did they decide to change there cultures and fight in with Mecca so Mohammad can go back to his home. I also wanted to learn about the tribal culture in general such as their rituals. I wanted to learn about this because different tribes co-existing in the same area can lead to trouble and not a lot of differences between the people but, in this case that might be true and i want to know that.
I would like to learn more about the Hajj. Like Sabrina said, the Hajj is the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca that is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Every Muslim (if capable) is required to make the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. Looking at the maps, I concluded that Islam is obviously a large and expanding religion. Since the Hajj is such a significant part of Muslims' religion, I would like to learn more about it. In particular, I would like to learn more about when the Hajj began (the history behind it), how Muslims make the journey, the necessary actions that must be taken during the Hajj, and what specifically the Hajj represents to Muslims.
I am interested in learning more about how Islam has changed over time, with particular regard to today. The video told of a religion that lives in harmony with other religions, yet over time, Muslims have come to despise other religions. I am also interested in learning about Islam today and how strict, with relation to Mohammed's time. I would like to continue exploring this topic, and further explore topics, such as how the Muslims coped after Mohammed died, and what they did to fill the gaps that his teachings hadn't filled.
I would like to learn more about the Hajj and the pilgrimage to Mecca. I am interested in learning about the ritual precedings that occur doing the Hajj and also what it all symbolizes. I also was interested in how Islam was able to spread their empire to such an extent in such a short period of time.
I am interested in learning more about Mecca the city, and it's history both before and after Mohammad. I'd like to see how it developed in the beginning, and how it's commerce, trade, etc. changed after Mohammad. I would also like to see how the population changed, if possible, since one would think that it would have a dramatic increase with all the new religious people coming.
I am interested in learning more about the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. I would like to learn more about the structure of the Qur'an and a little bit about what it says. How the Qur'an relates to other religious texts, such as the Torah and the Bible, also interests me. One final thing I would like to include in my research is how much the Qur'an has on the daily lives of different Muslims, and perhaps how different interpretations of of the Qur'an have led to conflict over time.
I am interested in learning more about the Qur'an. This question has been asked every time we have to post questions because I am very involved in my religion and being catholic I would love to see what texts were chosen from the bible and the torah. Also why were they chosen and why did they branch out to other religions? I would love to research this more because it's something I feel I could continue and further enjoy researching.
I would like to learn more about the separation between the two denominations of Islam, the Sunni and the Shi'a. I would like to learn why the separated but also how this effects today society and the rest of the world.
I was interested in learning more about tribes raiding each other. In the reading it said that the tribes had come to depend on raiding each other, so I wanted to know how often they raided. Also, how much stuff they would take on each raid? Did they fight battles over things, or just sneak over during the night and take stuff?
I'm interested in learning more about the ancient Islamic Prophets. I would like to know what effect they had on military leaders and every day people. Who was the first known Muslim prophet? Also, did Muhammad teach other prophets about the Quran before it was so generalized? Lastly, did any other prophets leave a lasting legacy quite like Muhammad did?
i am interested in learning more about the history of the black stone. i have heard different things about it in the past, including the fact that when it came down it was white. when people touched it it absorbed their sins, and that's why it turned black. i just thought it would be interesting to know.
I am interested in learning more about the five pillars of faith. I would specifically like to know how the Shia differ from the Sunni in there rituals/ beliefs in the five pillars.
I am interested in learning more about the Hajj, or "pilgrimage" that Islamic people have to make. I want to write this paper on the Islamic Hajj because we haven't spent a long time on something that is so important to Islamic people. Unless you can't afford or aren't in good health terms an Islamic must make in their lifetime. The hajj is an important thing for Islamic people so it is important to know about.
Something about Islam I am interested in learning more about is trade. I think it would be interesting to learn about trade because I get to learn about a whole bunch of different topics in one that all relate. For example, I could learn about clothing, but that would limit me. If I research trade, I can relate what clothing they wore to the place it comes from. By learning where each trade item comes from, I can learn about all the places that came in contact with the Islam world and find out where they are on a map. I also think it would be interesting to see how much they actually traded considering the climate. In addition, the Muslims were constantly expanding and conquering other countries. Eventually, the empire was bigger than Rome. Because the Muslims probably used a lot of the resources from the places they conquered, I think it would be interesting to see how trade changed.
I am interested in the split between the Shi'a and Sunni groups in Islam. This is because it was an interesting time period with the power vacuum after the the death of Muhammed. It is also very relevant today.
